Who holds your information.

Rogue AI Stories, a project of digital rapport®. Contact: info@rogueaistories.com

What we collect.

Your first name, city, country, email address, and optionally your phone number. The account of what happened, and the details of the AI system involved. Technical information used only to prevent abuse: a hashed IP address and your browser's user-agent string.

Why we collect it.

To check your story is genuine, to publish it with your permission, to contact you about it, and — only if you've agreed — to introduce you to journalists who want to speak to you.

Our lawful basis.

Your consent. You gave it by ticking the boxes, and you can take it back at any time without giving a reason.

Who we share it with.

Nobody, unless you've ticked the introductions box — and then only with named journalists, researchers or broadcasters, and we'll tell you who before we pass anything on. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies and analytics.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which stories people read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google your IP address, the pages you visit and your approximate location. We use it to understand what the archive is doing, not to advertise to you, and the analytics data is separate from anything you send us through the form. To opt out, use your browser's settings or Google's opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Nothing else on the site tracks you, and we run no ads.

The weekly digest.

If you ask for the digest, we store your email address, the first name you gave if you gave one, when you asked, and the exact words you agreed to. You are not on the list until you click the link we email you — asking is not consent, confirming is. Every digest carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately and asks you nothing. We use Mailgun to send it, which means Mailgun processes your address on our behalf in the EU, and we keep a record of whether each message was delivered or bounced. We do not sell, rent or share the list. Ask us at info@rogueaistories.com and we will delete you from it entirely.

How long we keep it.

Contact details are kept while your story is published, and for twelve months afterwards so we can reach you if something changes. After that they're deleted, and the story stays up under first name and city alone — unless you've asked us to take it down, in which case both go.

The one thing we keep.

When someone withdraws entirely, we erase their story and their details — but we keep the record that permission was given and then taken back. That record holds no story and no contact details. It exists so we can always show that we published with permission and stopped when asked, which is the only proof that any of this was done properly.

Your rights.

You can ask to see what we hold, correct it, delete it, or take your story down entirely. Email info@rogueaistories.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Has an AI ever done something you couldn't quite believe?

Good or bad. The disaster, the near-miss, the one that made you laugh, the one that turned out better than you'd any right to expect.

Tell us what happened

A person reads every submission. We publish your first name and your city — never your email or anything else. You can take it down whenever you like.
